Online Orientation Course

DCUE-0200 New Student Orientation is a self-paced online course designed for new Ïã¸ÛÁùºÐ±¦µä¿ª½±½á¹û students. It lives on and it covers all the basics of how to get ready for your first semester here. Learn about all the new student essentials such as how to get your student ID card and where to get your textbooks. Discover the students services available to you including counselling and academic workshops. Plus, find out how you can contribute to the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÐ±¦µä¿ª½±½á¹û community.

New students will be automatically enrolled into this course in early to mid-August. Please check under the "Courses" section on your Blackboard.

Our orientation workshops set you up for success at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÐ±¦µä¿ª½±½á¹û. Some workshops are hosted online while some are hosted in person. Check out the workshop offerings below and be sure to register for the ones that are of interest to you.

For All Students

In this session, learn why academic integrity is important in your studies and the risks and consequences of academic misconduct. Find out what is expected of students at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÐ±¦µä¿ª½±½á¹û, including the mandatory course DCUE-0100 Academic Integrity. Plus, you could win a prize just by attending!

Peer Tutors from the Learning Centre will share strategies to help you get ready for your first semester by creating a study schedule, note-taking strategies, active reading, communicating with your instructor, etc. Join us to learn all the handy tips to be a successful Ïã¸ÛÁùºÐ±¦µä¿ª½±½á¹û student and get a chance to win a gift card!

For International Students

A casual welcome to our first-semester international students! We will introduce you to our Ïã¸ÛÁùºÐ±¦µä¿ª½±½á¹û International team and the services we can provide you to help you throughout your time at Douglas. We will also cover Canadian culture and tips for settling into your new home.

Planning on Travelling to Canada? There are a few things to be aware of before you make an informed decision. Point of Entry update, travel documents, booking your flight, arriving in YVR and more.

Faculty-Specific New Student Orientation Sessions

Get ready for your first semester and have your questions answered by attending one of the in-person Faculty-Specific New Student Orientation Sessions. These sessions provide you with an opportunity to meet your faculty instructors and receive information about your courses. Student Life will also introduce you to the available services to support your Douglas journey, give you a look at life on campus and walk you through the new student checklist.

General New Student Orientation Sessions are available for you if you are unable to attend the Faculty-Specific New Student Orientation Sessions or if there is not one being offered for your faculty. These sessions are open to parents and supporters as well.
